4th-gen Skoda Octavia to be launched in India on 10 June 2021
Skoda Auto India has confirmed that the fourth-generation Octavia will be launched on 10 June. Its launch was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Skoda decided to push its launch date several times keeping in mind the pandemic situation in the country.
The new Skoda Octavia was first introduced for the international markets in late 2019. After which it has been launched in some global markets. Skoda first launched the Octavia as its debut product in the Indian market in the year 2001. This was a time when sedan cars were quite popular here. While the popularity and demand of SUVs is increasing in India and in many markets across the world, the Octavia has somehow managed to hold on. The new Octavia 2021 is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. The new Octavia will be 19 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the previous model. Due to which passengers will get more space and comfort in it. The new Octavia will be available with a single petrol engine 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. Unlike its predecessor, there will be no diesel engine option.
Talking about the exteriors of the new-gen Octavia, it will replace the quad headlamp styling of the previous model with a more traditional design like the Skoda Superb. Its cabin has been updated and many new features have been included. Inside, beige and black color scheme can be found inside, multifunction steering wheel with digital display and horizontal appearance.
