THE NEW SONET 2021
Kia India introduced the new SONET subcompact SUV in the
Indian market. The interior of the SONET has received a lot of updates. Here's
what changed in the new 2021 SONET.
Kia's new logo has been given in SONET. The new logo can be
seen in the car's bonnet, tailgate, alloy wheels and steering.
The biggest upgrade to the new SONET is that it uses paddle
shifters. Not only has this sub-compact SUV got a very sporty look, but its
driving experience has also improved a lot. This feature is included in all
automatic variants of the SONET.
The new SONET 2021 facelift model includes 10 new features.
In this, for the first time, the segment has been provided with the first rear
door sunshade curtain and operating sunroof with voice command. 'Segment First'
means the first feature found in a car in this segment.
Lower variants of SONET have also been upgraded with high-end
safety features. Now the car has features like Electronic Stability Control
(ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist
Control (HAC).
Apart from this, features found in many high-end variants have also been made available in lower variants of SONET. These features include electric sunroof, smart key with push button start, remote engine start, crystal cut alloy wheels with chrome door handle and silver wheel cap.
Select variants of Kia SONET - HTX / HTX + / GTX + have a
segment first feature like rear door sunshade curtons. In addition, variants
like HTX + / GTX + have segment-first features such as UVO (Voice Assist
Sunroof Open / Close). Now the car's sunroof can be opened and closed by voice.
This is also the 'segment first' feature of this SUV.
In SONET, petrol and diesel engines will be available as
before. Two petrol engine options include a 1.2-liter, naturally aspirated
petrol engine that generates 83 hp of power and 115 Nm of torque. Along with
this, another option is a 1.0-liter, turbo-petrol engine that generates 120 hp
power and 175 Nm torque. Only a 5-speed manual gearbox is available with the
1.2-liter engine. While a 6-speed iMT gearbox or 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox
is available with the 1.0-liter engine.
SONET's diesel model gets a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder,
turbocharged diesel engine, which generates 100 hp of power and 240 Nm of
torque. There is a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter
automatic gearbox. At the same time, diesel-automatic variants get power of 115
hp and torque of 250 Nm, which gives a higher power output of up to 15 hp and
10 Nm.
The initial ex-showroom price of 2021 Kia SONET in India has
been kept at Rs 6,79,000. The entry-level HTE 5MT feature of the new SONET SUV
is priced at Rs 6,79,000. While the ex-showroom price of the top-spec HTX +
6iMT, and GTX + 6iT variants goes up to 11,75,000.
